Today I was stopped at a light on the way to the office and noticed a black Galant with some paint begining to fade. I made the international sign for "roll your window down" and told the woman about the site. Let's see if we can get her car painted. She was pretty nice gal too.
I have gotten some grief about the new site design. Basically, I have moved to the blog format because I am not computer programmer and have this whole other life I have to attend to. You can also post more easily. That being said, I will not take the site down just because they will not paint my car.
Keep me posted on your efforts.
I to, am an Owner of a 2000 Mitsubishi, Galant and the paint has faded on the roof, hood and Trunk of my car. Im looking to see if there is anyway that I can be covered for this without going into my own wallet, being that this was not my fault. If anyone has any ideas please, respond.

I have a 2001 Black Mitsubishi Eclipse GT convertible and three months ago the paint started to fail. It looks like its evaporating right off the car. I took it to one dealership that said they wouldn't paint it..they said "You shouldn't have bought black." - I said "I shouldn't have bought Mitsubishi." I'll take this to a different dealership with this a print out from this site in my hand. Will advise you of what happens. Is anyone thinking about a class action suit against Mitsubishi over this paint issue?

I have the same problem with my '01 black Galant. I took it to Maaco & they quoted me $700+ to fix. Since my car is 6.5 yrs old - I figured I'd google the problem & stumbled on this site. Let me know if you have had any success with the dealer. I'll give it a shot as well.

I am the original owner of a 2001 black galant and have the same problems. My roof is almost completely white. It is even beginning on the sides of my car. I went through the process and was told because my car was out of warranty they would only pay for $500 of a paint job done at a mitsu dealership. I had an estimate done at one, and it is $1800 for top surfaces only. I am a student and can't afford to drop $1300 for a new paint job (which in a few months will have to have the rest of it done because the sides will soon look like the top). What they are doing is wrong. I did not get a discount when I bought the car because the paint would come off in the years to come. I am very disappointed with Mitsubishi.

Hi, My name is Colleen and I live in Louisiana. I have a black 2001 Mits Galant GTZ that I now call "The Spotted Dog"! Wonderful car, just looks horrible because for the last 4 years the black paint has come off and is now partially white. I thought it was just mine until a car just like mine parked next to me and I talked to the owners who told me there was a nationwide problem. I googled and found this site. Let me know if anybody finds justice here!

I have a black 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse whose paint is turining white in spots. It began on the roof and is now happening on the hood. I am so relieved that this site exists. I too have been watching out for others with the same problem but have not had the courage to approach them. I plan to contact my dealer regarding this problem in the next few days especially now that I know that others are having the same problem. Any suggestions you have as to how to best handle the situation would be greatly appreciated. I'll keep you posted as to what my dealer says.

I also have a paint problem with 2002 Mit. Eclipse as does everone else. My paint is fading on the roof, truck, well basically the whole car pretty much and it looks really bad!!! Is there anything I can do...? I talked to the mit. dealers and they all say the same thing, that it is out of warranty and they can do anything. Also, the Mit. Co. said there is nothing they can do. Has anyone filled a lawsuit? or any way to get my car fixed?

I have a Black 2000 Mitsubishi GALANT DE, which also is suffering some paint damage. The roof paint is chipping and around the window panels the paint is fading in certain spots. I went to see how much it would cost to fix it at Macco they said it would be $800 +. Now after doing some research I came to find out that there is a deformity in the paint and stumbled upon this website. Someone once commented about my cars paint and how they see tons of Galant’s with the same paint problem. I will never buy another Mitsubishi vehicle, and I will warn other people from buying one and try to stray them from getting one, so that they don’t get taken over by them.

I own a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS in the Kalapana Black color. I bought the vehicle used with 11,000 miles and an extended warranty. I also opted for a Xylon protection treatment which is supposed to protect the finish. At the time of purchase the vehicle showed no signs of paint issues, 3 months of onwership later and the paint started to show signs of distress. I contacted Xylon who sent a rep to look at the paint. After his examination at the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle I was told that it was a paint issue and that Xylon was not liable for the paint repair. I asked why not the paint had no issues when you did the treatment and your warranty garranties against any paint fading or other types of issues. I was told that this was a manufacturing problem with the paint from Mitsubishi and that there is an un-official recall. The Xylon rep then contacted a Mitsubishi dealership in the next town and made arrangements for a rep from Mitsubishi to show up and examine the vehicle. I keep my vehicles in pristine condition and spend at least 3 hours a week detailing them. When examined the Mitsubishi rep said having taken a quick glance at the car that there was no doubt that what was occuring was a defect and not neglect. He then authorized the dealership to do a full manufacturer level of repaint to the car which involved removing all of the glass and trim and removing all of the original paint clear and to re-apply and new coat of paint to manufacturer standard. He also gave me a new paint warranty of 5 years and provided a rental for the 2 weeks it took to repaint the car. Though I was not counting on repainting this vehicle when I first purchased it I must admit that Mitsubishi took good care of me even though I was not the original vehicle owner.

2005 Galant looks TERRIBLE!! I will paying on this car for awhile and am embarrassed to drive it! I love this car except for the paint and this persistent rattle I have been told is my heat shield. Had it tightened once... just came loose again and it drives me nuts. Otherwise I have no complaints. However I am disgusted with this whole paint issue. I am a single mom working full-time and in grad. school. My hands are in the air here!
