I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and the paint is faded in the same places as those pictured on this website. I have been told by Rick Case Mitsubishi in Duluth, Georgia they will take pictures and send them to Mitsubishi to see what can be done. I am not holding my breath.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant and in seeking help with my paint problem have been told by Dave Truitt at Expressway Mitsubishi in Evansville, IN that they will not do anything for me because the vehicle is out of warranty and because I am the second owner. What does that have to do with the paint job?

I have a black Mits Eclipse that is haveing paint problems. My paint began fading about three years after the car was made. I have contacted my dealer in Waterloo, IA and they told me I must of buffed it to hard. However, I have never buffed the car. Today I was at the mall and ran into another black mits that had a worst fading problem than mine. And it was 2 years newer. Is a class action lawsuit in order?

i have a 2001 Galant with the same problems. My black paint on the roof and hood of my car has turned completely white. I love this care and was considering a new one, but I think I will go with a Honda unless something is done

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant and the clear coat of the paint is pealing off everywhere leaving the car look dull. I took it to a mechanic that specializes in paint jobs and he said the the clear coat and the paint are not compatable. Has anyone gotton anywhere by contacting Mitsubishi?

I have a 2002 black Galant ES and have the same problems with the paint. started off with a small white spot on the roof and has spread through out the roof and now spreading the side of the vehicle. I am the first owner of the brand new 2002 car and still have it.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant clearcoat white/chipped/peeling in almost 100% of all surfaces. Roof about 75% rusted, already has a small hole. Mitsu will cover portion, I'm requesting 100% this is faulty workmanship from factory. We are first owners. How do we start a class action lawsuit?

My daughter's 2003 eclipse has the same problem. She has called and gotten a response that if the paint damage started from the inside first then out then they would see to a new paint job. Is there anything new happening?

I have a 2002 black Mitsubishi Eclipse w/ 79,000 miles and half the hood, half my roof and across my entire trunk has faded and turned white. There are also more spots forming as well. I'm the 1st owner of the car and just got back from Mitsubishi dealership for them to take pics of my car. He is sending everything over to his rep to see what they will do. Said it would take 1-2 weeks to find out. Then depending on how that goes I'm gonna join in on the lawsuit if they don't fix the paint job. I hope they fix it.

I have a 2002 silver Galante and my paint job is terribly faded. I am the first owner and would like to join the class action lawsuit.

Well I heard back from Westborough Mitsubishi and they said Mitsubishi Headquarters denied my claim because they said the car was too old,too many miles, and out of warranty. What does that have to do with the defective paint and excessive fading? The service rep did say he had a rep coming in today and he was going to re-present my case to him face-to-face and for me to call dealership tomorrow to see what they said. I'm already contacting a lawyer I found who is doing a Class Action Lawsuit against Mitsubishi for the bad paint job tomorrow on my break at work.

I have a 2002 Black Mitsubishi Galant that looks hideous. The paint has faded and is chipping in some areas all over the hood, roof, trunk and now coming down the sides. I've contacted the dealership and they said that the reason I am having this problem is because I live in the southeast and the clear coat cannot hold up. That is rediculous. I would like to join the class action law suit. Could someone please provide me with some information. Thank you!

I have a black 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and the paint looks exactly like those shown in the above photo only WORSE! The roof of my car, the trunk, the hood, have faded, oxodized, whatever you want to call it. There are rust marks all over the hood.
I wanted to have it painted over because it is not only an embarrassement, it is an EYE-SORE! I thought it was just my car until I started to see other Black, 2003 Mitsubishi Galants that looked just like mine. They too were having horrible paint problems. On Veterans Day I decided to park my car and walk around the corner to the local parade. While walking back I looked up and saw what I thought was my own car being driven down the street and right past me because it looked identical to my own. It had the same paint oxidation in the same exact area with the same rust spots in the same exact area! I almost thought someone had stolen my car and was driving away with it because there was no way that two of the same cars (make, model, color and year) could have the same exact physical paint defects!!!!
I have read through the comments on this site only to be even more angered to read that NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE HAD ANY SUCCESS WITH THIS. NO ONE CARES ABOUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR VEHICLES BECAUSE OUR VEHICLES ARE CONSIDERED OLD AND OUT DATED. THIS IS NOT OUR FAULT. WHY ARE WE TOLD TO DEAL WITH IT WHEN IT IS THE MANUFACTURE'S RESPONSIBILITY. I COULD UNDERSTAND IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN TO ALL CARS AFTER ONLY 4 OR 5 YEARS, BUT I HAVE HAD OTHER CARS THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW OFF THE SHOW-ROOM FLOOR AND NEVER HAVE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I WAS THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR. I DID NOT OVER BUFF IT, I DID NOT OVER WASH IT, I DID NOT MISTREAT IT, AND THE THE WORSE PART IS THAT I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF CRAP AND THE ONLY THING I CAN DO TO CHANGE THAT IS COUGH UP MONEY TO HAVE IT PAINTED! I know Mitsubishi would say to just buy a new car...but I say why should I have to? Why can't they be honorable and offer to pay to take care of this problem for its "paying" customers! If we had known that our cars were going to look like this only a few years after purchase...WE WOULD HAVE CHOSEN ANOTHER CAR COMPANY! Here is my thing...if the car were Lexus, BMW, Mercedes and something like this were to happen, I can only imagine that they would not let this go on without doing a recall or something! They know that their customers paid top dollar to drive their name around and that people with that kind of money will raise hell for them if they don't do something... Well how come we can't be treated like we paid handsomely for our cars too? I guess Mitsubishi doesn't think that those who paid for their vehicle 4 or 5 years ago, matter in 2008!
If anyone has any ideas or can provide any resolve of this matter, please enlighten your pissed off-fellow-Mitsubishi-owners! Thank you.

I have a 2004 Endeavor and I am having the same issues. In my case, corporate agreed to paint my car but the job they did was horrendous!! Nothing is blended They destroyed parts that were ok. Now they won't call me back. I live in CT and have contacted
CT Atty General (nothing he can do)
My lawyer (nothing she can really do without taking years to do it)
I am in the process of filing a complaint with the state of CT Department of Motor Vehicles. There is a Department that deals with this kind of issue. The paperwork is called "complaint against motor vehicle sales or service business firm"
My next calls are to the local tv and radio stations. I have created my website www.neverbuymitsubishiagain.com and have been driving around town promoting it with lettering all over my car. Others need to know that Mitsubishi corporate is just spitting on their customers. This is a KNOWN issue and has been for years. Why are they not correcting this?
I am also interested in a class action lawsuit... please let me know if anyone has that info.

KEEP FIGHTING!!!
I believe that is the only reason they did paint my car. Don't back down!! They originally blamed me...saying I did not maintain my car by waxing and washing it. I aggressively fought back since I washed this car weekly and waxed it 4 times a year. When they realized I knew what I was talking about they had no other choice.
KEEP AT THEM!!

I purchased my 2003 Eclipse GTS in July of 2002. Being thrilled to have had only minor problems with this car, I was dismayed when I began noticing gray/white/chipping/peeling ugly stuff coming from my once beautiful black car. I have searched around on the web and have yet to find anyone that can remedy this problem. The few local dealers said "we heard about those problems but, can I interest you in a new Mitsubishi"? We should all band together to tackle this problem!

I purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES brand new from a Mitsu dealer in CT. About one year ago, my paint too began to fade..Its speading all over the roof and down the side now..I have a friend with the same car but a 2002 who also has the same problem..If they are "unaware of the problem" then once they were made aware, shouldnt something have been done?? Im going to research this a little more and see what types of initiatives the govt has when dealing with bad business!!

I too own a 2003 Black Galant ES. I am experiencing the same fading problems with my car. The roof, hood, and now the trunk are fading (turning gray/white). Please provide me with the information to join the lawsuit. I do not believe that Mitsubishi does not know about the problem, but are choosing to ignore them. This is ridiculous. I just want my car painted back to the way it was. And BTW yes I wash and wax my car regulary, so no excuses for this.

The paint on the roof/hood of my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant has faded badly. I read dozens of complaints from people online who own Mitsubishi Galant’s regarding mysterious paint problems on the hoods of their cars. Common problems reported is paint fading badly on the hood, roof, and trunk from owners who have had their car for only a few years. I’ve only had my car for two years and the roof of my car has faded badly through no fault of my own. These paint problems have been given completely unsatisfactory excuses by Mitsubishi and as a result multiple forums and websites. Mitsubishi some how neglected to add the clear coat protection to all black paint and apparently have admitted to this but have not taken any steps to remedy the situation. I believe that this matter can be brought to Mitsubishi’s attention via a class action suit. They should be held responsible for the products they sell.
