Stacey Schaible of Tampa NBC affiliate contacted me last week and we discussed the issue. I got her up to speed on what has been going on. I have not been able to see her story which aired on Monday, but hope to have it posted soon. Meantime, you can go to www.WFLA.com and check it out.
Mitsubishi. as I understand it, told her they were "doing something new" because of customer complains and press. I am not sure it is new to look at the cars on a case by case basis, because that is what they were doing int he first place.
None the less - be sure to go to your local dealer, tell them you are using MY MITSUBISHI PAINT PROBLEM dot com as a resource and you know that Jorgen Wetterings is aware of the problem and you want your paint fixed.
Stay focused and stay strong.
They just did a follow-up story tonight, and mentioned your site. Hoping our blue Mitsu's paint survives better than the black...

I HAVE A BLACK 2000 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GT, JUST LIKE THE ONE IN THE PICTURE ON THE WEBSITE. MY PAINT JOB IS SUCH AN EYESOAR IT IS RIDICULOUS!! EVERYONE WITH THIS PAINT ISSUE WILL START TO FACE RUST. MY CAR HAS BEEN DOING THE SAME BUBBLING UP AND WHITE FLAKY PATCHES AND NOW 85% OF MY PAINT IS GONE!!!I CAN'T EVEN WAH MY SPORTSCAR! THE CLEARCOAT IS BAD AND THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING THE MANUFACTURER CAN DO, BECAUSE ALL OF OUR CARS NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED AND IF ANY LONGER IT WILL NEED BODY WORK DUE TO RUST...THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE EYECANDY NOT AN EYESOAR. I THINK I AM GOING TO START MAILING PICTURES OF MY CAR TO ALL PEOPLE. A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS SEEN MY CAR AND NOW THEY SAY THEY WILL NOT EVER BUY A THING FROM MITSUBISHI...

It isn't just limited to the cars. My 2005 Endevour which is suppose to be black is heavily oxidized all over the roof....we took it in this week and waiting to hear from them. I doubt they'll just agree to paint it so we'll be contacting our local news agencies to see if we can get some help and probably seek leagl advice under the lemon laws.

This is a little different from other posts I've seen on your website.
I recently purchased a new 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart with phoenix red paint. I received the car from the dealership on April 2, 2007. After 3 weeks I noticed 13 stone chips on various body panels and the car had only 500km on it. It is now 6 weeks old (1800km) and I have over 30 large chips in the paint, including 3 on the roof. I also have dozens of white spots on the driver and passenger sides of the car the size of a pinhead. I drive on city roads and the vehicle has not seen any construction.
I have spoken to the dealership and Mitsu Customer Service and I have been told this is just a fact of life. I haven't heard of any other cars with such a bad problem. Stone chips do happen but this is excessive. I am dreading the first winter as we do use a lot of salt here.

my 2000 galant started to fade in about 2004. it seems that the clearcoat is chipping off or something. this is freaking rediculus. i have put a lot of money into this car for me to have to deal with this. im going to call mitsubishi tomarrow with my complaint at 18002220037. we all need to bond together to win this fight

After speaking with a friend whose co-worker had the same issue with his Galant and then seeing another black Galant on the road with the same paint problem, I decided to contact Mitsu. I have a 2001 Galant and it looks terrible. I was told they will not re-paint it since my warranty is up. Why they would want a bunch of horrible looking cars driving around carrying the Mitsubishi name is beyond me. Well - Thanks for the website. Hopefully they will change thier mind.

Well just like everyone else my paint job got so bad the top of my vehicle started to rust. Of course before it got that bad I went to Mitsubishi and of course my vehicle was out of warranty. So their was nothing they could do. I am beyond angry because this is a 2003 Galant. I am getting it painted now but you can imagine the cost because of the rust. One guy asked me if I was sure the vehicle year was 2003 because of all the body damage.
